FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE AHMANSON-LOVELACE BRAIN MAPPING CENTER DATABASE
INDEX OF QUESTIONS:
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
The database does not correctly reflect my MR safety training
MR safety training records must be administratively entered into the database after the
safety trained person has created a database account. It may take a couple of days for records
to be brought up-to-date.
I work for Dr. X and I got a database account, but when I try to schedule, I get a long list of reasons I'm not allowed to schedule. What do I do?
If Dr. X has not already done so, he or she needs to get an ALBMC database account. Once Dr. X has
an account, he or she can delegate various tasks to you. First, Dr. X need to go to the "Personnel"
page (listed under "General" in the left side menu), press the "Add New Person" button, find your
name on one of the popup menus, press "Add This Person..." and confirm. Dr. X can then delegate
any task to you by going to the "Page Access Control" section at the bottom of the corresponding web
page, clicking the "Modify Access List" button, checking your name, and confirming.
Before you will be able to schedule studies, either you (with Dr. X's delegated authority) or
Dr. X must do the following:
- Describe the scientific project (the "Projects" link under "Scientific" in the side menu bar)
and upload a one to five page description of the project.
- For human studies, enter IRB approval and Consent Forms for the project (links under the
"Regulatory" item in the side menu)
- Designate a fund that will be used to pay for the studies ("External Funds" link under
"Financial")
- Set up and transfer money into an escrow account in Brain Mapping ("Escrow Acconts" link
under "Financial")
- Make sure that someone has had completed ALBMC safety training and that that person is
included among the personnel list
The following administrative tasks must be completed in the ALBMC before you will be able to
schedule studies:
- The scientific project must be reviewed and approved by the ALBMC
- Copies of your IRB approvals and consent forms must be verified against the information
you have provided
- Funds must be verified with your fund administrator and transfer of funds into your
escrow account initiated
- MR safety training records for new personnel will be updated in the database
I have an ongoing project in the ALBMC. Do I have to describe and submit this project in the database?
Yes. You still need to describe the project and upload a one to five page description. This will
facilitate verification that your project has previously been reviewed. Projects previously
reviewed and accepted will get expedited handling with no additional review.
I don't see places to schedule TMS studies or PET studies in the database. Do I need to enter information about TMS or PET studies?
Yes. Scheduling for TMS and PET will convert to the database in the near future. Please go ahead
and enter the information pertinent to these modalities.
