Provide the patient with ear plugs or headphones for hearing protection.

Warning: Have patient remove all:

jewelry (e.g., necklaces, pins, rings)

hair pins, bobby pins, barrettes, clips, etc

dentures, false teeth, partial dental plates

hearing aids

eyeglasses

watch, pager, cell phone, credit and bank cards, and all other

cards with a magnetic strip

body piercing objects

clothing with metal fasteners, zippers

Set the patient onto the scan couch

ii.

Put on the head coil

iii.

Zero the patient to the scanner

iv.

Move patient into scanning position
